LONGi is the top maker of mono-silicon panels in the world. Each year, they make more than 30GW of solar panels. They focus on making high-quality PERC and bi-facial panels. These panels last longer than other mono panels because they are treated to reduce solar degradation which offers a better lifetime yield than standard mono panels.

How PERC Cells Work in LONGi Solar Panels

PERC cells make solar panels more efficient. They do this by adding additional coating and laser grooves to regular cells. In 2016, LONGi introduced the mono-PERC modules. These modules use PERC technology on monocrystalline silicon and don’t degrade as much in low light. This increased efficiency from 21% to 24.06%.

Perc technology, short for Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell, is a cutting-edge solar cell manufacturing process that significantly improves the efficiency and performance of photovoltaic (PV) panels. This innovative method involves the addition of a dielectric passivation layer at the rear side of the solar cell, which helps to reduce electron recombination and enhance overall energy conversion.

Bifacial PV: A Key Feature of LONGi Solar Panels

Most solar panels only make energy from the front, Bifacial solar panels are different because they make energy from both sides. This means they make more energy overall.

Here’s how they work:

  • They use a reflective back sheet or two panes of glass instead of an opaque back sheet.
  • They are frameless and a bit thicker for better strength.
  • They use monocrystalline cells, which are the most efficient.
  • They can make 30% more energy than regular solar panels.
  • The front takes in the most sunlight, but the back can still make 5% to 30% of the energy.

Understanding Half-cut Module Technology

Half-cut module technology boosts power and reliability in solar panels. Traditional monocrystalline solar panels have 60 to 72 solar cells, but half-cut panels have more cells. Here’s how they work:

Advantages of Half-cut Module Technology in LONGi Solar Panels

  • More cells: Half-cut panels have 120 to 144 cells, often with PERC technology for better efficiency.
  • Two separate panels: The panel is split in half, so it can still make energy if one half is shaded.
  • Higher shade tolerance: They have a unique wiring system, making them better at handling shade.

How Half-cut Module Technology Improves LONGi Solar Panels

The secret to half-cut cell design is a different “series wiring” method. This means that if one cell is shaded or not working, the other cells in the row can still make power. A half-cut, 6-string solar panel works differently from a traditional panel:

  • In a traditional panel, a shaded cell can stop a whole row from making power.
  • In a half-cut panel, only the shaded cell and its row stop producing power.
  • The other rows keep making power, so less of the panel is affected.

By using half-cut module technology, LONGi Solar Panels perform better in shaded areas and provide more power overall.
